Week One

Demolition

Demolition began on Saturday with the help of a bribe and one Maid of Honor, newly promoted to House Manager. It is amazing what a pair of pink Coach deck shoes will make a girl do, specifically full on demo with a sledgehammer. We worked out a system of taking down the layers of ceramic tile, 1/2" cement, metal lath, wood lath and mortar with all fingers in tact.

If these walls could talk........
Some interesting finds showed up as we uncovered the bones of the house. First, we found behind the medicine cabinet a cache of razor blades, circa 1930's. There is something terrifying and Saw-esque finding a pile of rusty razor blades behind the mirror, needless to say they have been put aside for a bathroom related art project yet to be determined. The next find was the body to a toy airplane, also circa old. That was found near the chimney stack.

Injuries
As most loyal blog readers know by now, the 810 remodels are subject to various sorts of injuries during the process, from minor band-aids to extended hospital stays. Fortunately, this week proved a band-aid type of week with some minor cuts and bruises. No blood transfusions needed, although it was close for a while.
